Failure Not an Option and Not In Sight: Residential VoIP Services

Voice over Internet Protocol technology was introduced almost a decade and a half ago. The version of VoIP that was introduced at that point in time was a very basic and a poor version of VoIP. It was initially introduced via PC software, which allowed users make voice calls via the internet from one user of the software to another user. As it had numerous disadvantages, it was not very successful. However, since the new and improved version of residential Voice over Internet Protocol has been introduced, VoIP has gained popularity day by day over home phone services. In this article, we will discuss the reasons as to why the new and improved version of VoIP is unlikely to fail. The technology is very simple involving the transmission of voice and video signals via the internet as data packets.

The gist of the whole system has been described in one sentence, and fortunately it does not get any more complicated than this. And this fact alone is the reason why the telecommunication industry does not want the masses to know about the technology. The potential of Voice over Internet Protocol services, specifically residential Voice over Internet Protocol can be estimated by reviewing the example of Skype. Skype was designed by a handful of people and within 2 years it managed to gain approximately 60 million subscribers. Since the introduction of VoIP, instead of telecommunication firms switching to the new technology they resisted the revolution and now home phone service providers regret the decision.

The Voice over Internet Protocol softwares can be designed by any software engineer who is a specialist in telecommunication. This is actually one of the best aspects of VoIP; the market for residential VoIP can never be monopolized unlike the market of home phone services. Therefore all those who think that the package plans offered by residential VoIP companies are for introductory purpose, this is not the case. The intense and increasing competition will continue to keep the prices low and quality high.

Voice over Internet Protocol technology is a very flexible system. For instance when residential VoIP companies seemed to be a threat for the home phone service companies, they tried to contain their growth by bringing up issues such as the inability of the service providers to offer 911 services. This issue has also been tackled by the VoIP service providers.

There are numerous examples like the ones mentioned above, however, unfortunately for the home phone service providers; they simple cannot do anything. VoIP service providers have successfully been able to penetrate the market, and they can bypass successfully any obstacle the conventional phone companies have to throw at them. Even if the conventional telephone companies want to create any hurdle, they will surely be unsuccessful because so far the masses have started to shift to VoIP service because of its offerings.
